Village Singers to give tribute to American greats

The Village Singers of Lake Zurich will perform their annual spring concert "America Sings" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Community Church, 330 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich.

"America Sings" is a tribute to American composers and performers Rogers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin and Frank Sinatra. The chorus will perform songs from the musicals "Gypsy," "Carousel," "The Sound of Music," "Oklahoma," "South Pacific" and "Annie Get Your Gun." In addition, there will be specialty numbers by soloists and small groups. Founder and director Jeannine Saltman will be assisted by associate directors Earl Gubbins and Fred Newell.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and free for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased from a member of the chorus or at the door. Group rates are also available.
