Ironic Earth Day in Arlington Heights
When the letter arrived from the Village of Arlington Heights to the residents of South Gibbons Street, (appropriately delivered on Earth Day), we were expecting to receive an apology.
Instead, the village explained their partnership with ComEd that led to the obliteration of over 25 mature trees lining our streets.
The village still doesn't understand the outrage of the neighborhood and their letter intended to provide "some clarification" in the wake of "e-mails and publicity" only supports the tactics used by the village to divide and conquer.
The village is on record for stating that they indeed "initiated" the project and "targeted" our neighborhood. They are not being straightforward about their deceptive approach to contact individual residents about their individual trees, instead of engaging the entire neighborhood to define the true magnitude of the destruction.
The residents of Arlington Heights should question if their street is next on the "target" list before the trucks roll in and alter the beauty of their neighborhood overnight.
