Cook County steals from the suburbs
If this were the 17th century, I would say take up the sword and burn down the county buildings.
The corruption and tyranny of the kings and vassals of Cook County can no longer be tolerated. They steal through the political process with immunity.
If not for the U.S. attorney, the politically corrupt would only steal from themselves since the hard working citizens of the Northwest suburbs would have nothing left.
The property tax structure is rotten with over assessments in the suburbs and tax breaks for the insiders of county government. The sales tax is highest in the nation.
Every dollar the county takes from my family lowers the goods and services I can purchase and lessens the viability of the community to prosper.
The business community is on the verge of a mass exodus and the princes and vassals of Cook County's only solution is to raise taxes which fall the heaviest in the Northwest suburbs.
We don't like you and you don't care for us either. Our differences are irreconcilable. The only recourse is to migrate, revolt, or separate from Cook County.
Migration is happening. The growth of the collar county is the direct result of high taxes, quality of life, and corruption in the county.
Revolts are nasty affairs where both sides could lose. It is usually a scorched-earth calamity with many innocents caught between the two forces.
Elk Grove Village has fought hard against the tyrannical land grab for the Chicago airport expansion and now Palatine is in revolt against high sales taxes.
We should stand with our neighbors and take the fight to the princes and vassals of Cook County.
We have the means and resources to counterattack by pushing for more U.S. attorneys to root out corruption, insist the Cook state's attorney and the state office of attorney general vigorously search out and prosecute political crimes and promote good government throughout Cook County.
Hit the princes and vassals where it hurts the most: in their pocketbook by attacking their self-dealing patronage, and corruption. +
Let us go and avoid a fight.
