13 weekend shootings in Chicago
Although the number of shootings in Chicago over the weekend didn't reach the level of a week earlier, when at least 36 people were shot, there still was firearm violence in the city.
Police say a total of 13 people people were shot from Friday through Sunday -- two of them struck by bullets on their way to church. Three of the shootings were fatal.
Those killed have been identified as 18-year-old Alfredo Perez of the West Side, 26-year-old Willie Birmingham of the South Side, and 25-year-old Michael Phipps, also of the South Side.
The total of 13 weekend shootings does not include one man who was shot to death by police after a reported hostage situation.
