Hang in there, Trayce Davis

I am writing in response to Connie Pohlman's post regarding Trayce Davis' story about poverty.

First of all, obviously Connie has never suffered from poverty a single day in her life. Lucky her.

Secondly, I would like to point out that just because a person owns a computer does not make them rich or wealthy.

I enjoyed reading about Trayce Davis. I felt like I could relate to the article. And I feel that it is something that needs to be written about. People need to be aware of the poverty problem here in the suburbs that is not going away.

Although I do have a high school diploma, I still have struggled with low-paying jobs most of my adult life. Retail jobs are a dime a dozen. But I'd like to see Connie get up at 5 a.m. and put in an eight-hour shift at McDonald's and then try to live on that salary. Then, she can tell me that God helps those who help themselves.

If you ask me that is just a cop out for someone who wants to turn their cheek on this growing poverty problem in our country. In the land of the free.

Thank you, Trayce. Thanks for sharing your story and opening our eyes to this growing epidemic. Hang in there! Good things come in God's time.
