Man shot to death by Chicago police
Chicago police say officers shot and killed a man on the city's southeast side after he reportedly took three people hostage in a robbery attempt at an auto shop.
Officers were called to the parts store on South Ewing Avenue Saturday evening, and say that when they arrived, the suspect took the three people hostage.
The Hostage and Barricade team and SWAT responded, and the man reportedly fired several shots at officers, who returned fire and struck him fatally.
Chicago Police Officer John Henry says the Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the case. The man's identity and other details were not immediately available.
