Gravel truck spills its load in crash

A gravel truck overturned after a crash on Landmeier Road at Busse Road around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

Elk Grove Village firefighters responded to the scene, where the truck had spilled some oil and gravel, officials said.

Firefighters called contractors to clean up the mess, while police worked to get a truck to upright the overturned vehicle and clean up the gravel in the roadway.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but was not seriously injured, firefighters said.

The driver was charged with several minor traffic violations, officials said. No further information was available.

The area was blocked off into the afternoon while crews worked to clear the roadway.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
