COD artists share talents

Most of the time, the detailed art creation that takes place at the College of DuPage stays within the classroom walls.

The benefit of ArtLook 08 is that all that beauty is exposed to the public.

Once a year, examples from all disciplines within the fine arts department are put on display within the school for members of both the community and the college to see.

It's a way of letting the outside world in, explained Alain Hentschel, associate dean of fine and applied arts at the Glen Ellyn school.

"I thought there was a lot of activity in the arts studios, but you couldn't really see what was going on," he said.

Artlook was a way to counter that lack of visibility.

"It's a celebration of the student's work," he said.

Students contributed work or demonstrated their skills in graphic design, architecture, photography, motion picture and television, design and illustration, painting, drawing, jewelry-making and pottery.
