Salute Idol sets auditions

Salute, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness and support of issues facing active military personnel, veterans and their families, is sponsoring its "Salute Idol" contest in May.

Contestants will audition for the chance to sing at three Salute events: "The National Anthem" at the fifth Annual 5K Family Race May 24; "God Bless America" at the Salute Scholarship Presentation at Arlington Park Race Track May 26, and "The National Anthem" at the Veterans Memorial Tollway 8K Run June 15.

Salute Idol auditions for preregistered contestants (ages 21 and older) will be at 8:30 p.m. May 7 and 14 at Harry's of Arlington, 1 N. Vail, Arlington Heights. The Salute Idol Finals and fee concert featuring Nashville recording artist Stephen Cochran will be at 6:30 p.m. May 23.

The contest is limited to 60 entrants and only pre-registered contestants will be allowed to perform. The contest entry fee is $20. For a registration form and information, visit www.salute.org.
