Enjoy wildflowers during forest preserve walks

Some of the earliest wildflowers of the year are blooming.

Check them out during Woodland Wildflower Walks Sunday at Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve in St. Charles, and May 4 at Tyler Creek Forest Preserve in Elgin.

The forest floor will be carpeted with wildflowers of every size, shape, and color.

On these guided walks, learn about the diversity, folklore and ecology of native wildflowers.

The program on Sunday is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The May 4 program is from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The Woodland Wildflower Walks are free, but call (847) 741-8350 to register.

The Forest Preserve District may add or cancel programs depending on attendance estimates, so call if you plan to attend.

Tekakwitha Woods is off Route 25, one mile north of Army Trail Road. The address is 35W076 Villa Maria Road, St. Charles. Tyler Creek is at 401 Davis Rd., Elgin.
