Barrington business will relocate to Arlington Hts.

After Saturday, Barrington-area residents will have a bit farther to drive if they plan to shop at Cricket Classics.

Located in downtown Barrington for nearly four years, the store that specializes in personalized gifts is moving to Arlington Heights.

Owner Connie Riefke said the Barrington location will be shuttered after Saturday's closing. In a couple of weeks, Cricket Classics will reopen at 34 S. Evergreen in downtown Arlington Heights.

Riefke said she'd been looking for a new location so she could be closer to her Arlington Heights home and her twin sons.

"They keep me jumping," Riefke said. "Now I will be like five minutes from (the new store)."

Cricket Classics carries a wide variety of merchandise that can be monogrammed, including women's clothing, shirts, pajamas, totes, handbags and men's golf shoe bags. Table linens and infant blankets are other popular items. The shop also carries silver and contemporary jewelry for engraving.

Riefke said she thinks the move will be good for business.

"We are looking for a bit more foot traffic," she said. "There is a lot of hustle and bustle in downtown Arlington Heights."

Jon Ridler, executive director of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce, said he thinks the new store will be a nice addition to the village.

"Anytime we continue to recruit businesses to our downtown area is great," Ridler said.

Still, Riefke said she's enjoyed her time in Barrington.

"It is a wonderful and great community," she said.

She aims to open the new location by about May 9.
