Lack of civility at gun violence forum

My wife and I attended the Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence forum in Naperville on April 14 at the NIU campus. The purpose of the meeting was to focus on what role average citizens can play in helping to reduce gun violence and what state legislation is currently being proposed to address the issue.

During the presentation by Nina Vinik, Legal Community Against Violence's legal director, several anti-regulation members in the audience interrupted her several times.

We believe that this lack of civility is an epidemic problem facing the United States. How can resolution ever be reached to a problem as important as saving lives if we don't respect one another?

What was missing from the anti-regulation members was the decency to allow the presentation to be made and then enter into civilized dialogue.
