A 'lullaby' for unborn babies plans to raise needed funds
The Teen Parent Connection will host its annual spring fundraising event, The Lullaby Ball, Friday in Willowbrook.
The event will be from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at The Ashton Place, 3412 W. 75th St.
This event will raise money for programs that assist teen parents in DuPage County and educate area middle and high school students about preventing pregnancy.
Teen Parent Connection serves more than 400 adolescent parents with three core programs: healthy families, group services and doula. A doula is a woman who helps mothers-to-be through the pregnancy process, offering advice and support.
Lora Vitek, director of development and public relations for Teen Parent Connection, said the event is a great way to support the organization.
"It's also a place to have fun," said Vitek. "If you're looking for an organization to support and you're not sure, this is a great way to learn more about us."
Dave Savini, Naperville resident and investigative reporter for WBBM-TV Channel 2 Chicago, will be the master of ceremonies.
Entertainment will be provided by Random Axe, a rock band whose members live and work in DuPage County. One band member, Erin Vaughan, is the Teen Parent Connection's board president-elect.
The $100 per guest also covers cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner and a martini bar. Live and silent auctions will be taking place throughout the night. Prizes include a tour for six of 101.9FM The MIX and a viewing of the Eric and Kathy Show, four hopper passes to Walt Disney World, gift certificates to Catch 35 and a cocktail party for two hours at Quartino restaurant.
If you are unable to attend the Lullaby Ball and still want to help, donations to the Parents' Pantry are always accepted. Needed items include things like diapers, baby food, bottles and toys.
