Man charged with driving drunk into cars
A 20-year-old Elgin man accused of driving drunk was arrested early Sunday after slamming his vehicle into four cars parked in a Bartlett bar's parking lot, police said.
Matoe Cedillo, of 1113 Forest Drive, is facing several charges in court this morning after police said he hopped a curb, struck a boulder, then hit a parked vehicle so hard that it damaged three others in the parking lot of Cadillac Ranch, 1175 W. Lake St.
Cedillo was arrested at 1:44 a.m. Sunday after a Bartlett police officer traveling west on Route 20 at the overpass of Route 59 saw Cedillo -- driving a white 2008 Ford Fusion -- travel into the westbound lane of Route 20 then veer into the left-turn lane of Route 20 at Horizon Drive, go west in the eastbound lanes of Route 20 before finally leaving the road, Bartlett police said in a news release.
Four of the five vehicles involved were damaged so badly that they had to be towed from the scene, police said.
Cedillo was charged with felony aggravated DUI, driving while license suspended, driving in the wrong lane, leaving the roadway, illegal transportation of alcohol and consumption of alcohol by a minor. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday in Rolling Meadows.
A backseat passenger, Richard DeLeon, 20, of 466 Franklin Drive, Elgin, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. His court date is June 5.
