Wrap: St. Charles North sweeps Saints
The St. Charles North tennis team won all seven matches in straight sets Friday against St. Charles East.
John Mittvick won first singles 6-2, 7-5 and Andrew Davis and David Johnson took first doubles 6-0, 7-6 (4).
Baseball
Marmion 9, Immaculate Conception 8:ŒCJ Foster and David Brouch both had 2 hits as the Cadets (5-5, 3-1) beat the Knights in Elmhurst.
Softball
Glenbard East 1, West Aurora 0: The Rams' walk-off infield single in the seventh handed the Blackhawks (11-2, 1-1) their second straight loss. Stephanie Becker allowed 5 hits and 1 run over 7 innings.
Rosary 6, Immaculate Conception 4: Both Kylie Schalz and Colleen VanBogaert collected 3 RBI. The Royals remain perfect in the SCC (4-0).
Men's baseball
Waubonsee 1-3, Harper 0-2: The Chiefs won a pair of pitcher's duels against Harper. In Game 1, Matt Jones allowed 1 hit over 6 innings. In the sixth, Justin Oprins hit a two-out single to score Jordan Kohler.
The second game saw Anthony Mendoza scatter 5 hits over 6 innings for his first win. Derek Kopko saved both games for the Chiefs (15-18). Jerry Hernandez stroked the game-winning single in the sixth.
AU Baseball Day:ŒAurora University will hold Baseball Fan Day on April 29 at Solfisburg Park in Aurora.
At 2:30 p.m., a program will celebrate the Spartans' first season at their new home baseball field. The Spartans will host Carthage College in a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
Dr. Calvin Myers of Aurora, chair of the AU Board of Trustees, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Myers is a 1964 Aurora College graduate and former Spartan baseball player.
Other dignitaries expected are Tom Weisner, mayor of Aurora and an AU alum; Alderman Scheketa Hart-Burns, seventh ward; and Rebecca L. Sherrick, AU president. Mark Walsh, AU athletic director and an AU alum, will also participate.
The public is invited. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served by the AU Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Anklam honored:ŒAurora University sophomore designated hitter Matt Anklam (Glenbard North) was named the NAC Hitter of the Week.
Anklam helped the Spartans to a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Lutheran College (13-2 and 12-4) in AU's only games on the week. Anklam had 4 hits go for extra bases, which included a home run and 3 doubles to drive in a team high six runs.
On the season, Anklam is hitting .344 with 2 home runs, 8 doubles, 9 runs and 16 RBI.
Women's soccer
Roberts honored:ŒAugustana senior Tessa Roberts (St. Charles North) was named to the Central Region All-Region second team for women's soccer by D3kicks.com.
Roberts finished her illustrious career as the second leading point scorer in Augustana history with 113 points. She also finished her career second in career goals scored with 51. Roberts is tied for eighth on the all-time list with 11 career assists.
The senior forward led Augustana with 15 goals and 34 points in her final season for the Vikings. Her 15 goals scored tied for fourth on the all-time single season scoring list.
She was named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin All-Conference squad as a first team selection for the third straight year and shared MVP honors for the Vikings with sophomore defender Deanna Recchia (Glenbard North).
Women's softball
Waubonsee 4-9, Prairie State 0-5: Cheryl Smick three a 3-hit shutout in the opener with 11 strikeouts. She also batted 3-for-4 with a double. In Game 2, she added 3 more hits and stole 3 bases. Sam Ingo and Jami Swenson also collected 3 hits. The Chiefs are 12-12 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
Softball camp:ŒThe Northern Illinois Lightning, Judson University and Elgin Community College will team up to host their second annual softball skills camp June 9-12 at Judson.
The camp, which will run from 9 to 11 a.m. each day, will be designed for 8-14 year olds and will include instruction in hitting, slapping, bunting, pitching, baserunning and defensive skills.
Camp instructors will include ECC coach Anne Vogt, Judson coach Becky Bruns, members of the Lightning coaching staff and Lightning 18 & over players Jaci Corn and Courtney LaFerle.
Cost of the camp is $125 for all four days, with an early registration fee of $110 if paid by May 25.
Campers should bring their own softball equipment and water. Each camper will receive a T-shirt.
