Hanover Park police still probing man's death in parking lot

Hanover Park authorities Thursday continued to investigate the death of an Elgin man found unresponsive in a car parked at a Barrington Road White Castle restaurant.

Brian Denofrio, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities, who responded to a restaurant employee's call around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday

An autopsy is pending toxicology reports, which can take up to several weeks. A spokeswoman with the Cook County medical examiner's office said Denofrio had no visible signs of trauma such as gunshot or stab wounds.

Hanover Park police wouldn't release any details about the cause of death. White Castle also declined to comment.

Denofrio -- or "Frio" as he was known to many -- attended Elgin Community College and was looking forward to a summer internship in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry, friend Andrew Stoll said.

"Frio was a man of unparalleled integrity," Stoll wrote in an e-mail. "He valued family and friends to the nth degree, which was always apparent as he was willing to help any of these people at the drop of a hat."

Denofrio, an Elgin High School graduate, loved animals and was a music fanatic, whether it was listening to his favorite band Guns N' Roses, playing "Guitar Hero" or playing his drums.

On his MySpace page, Denofrio wrote: "I've been down rough roads but at the same time have had some really good times and at this point plan on peaking, no more looking back, just forward."
