Where is support from Iraqi public?

I read that 1,300 Iraqi soldiers and policemen were dismissed for desertion in the fighting of Shiite militias in Basra. That sounds like a lot for one battle.

I know I'm not there, but I don't sense the Iraqi support our leaders do. Shouldn't we question this?

After all these years of our efforts and the lives of our soldiers, shouldn't we have more Iraqi support than this?
