Power outage in Algonquin

A Wednesday power outage kept Algonquin's east side in the dark for an hour, officials said. The 4:15 p.m. outage was caused by a large tree branch falling onto a power line. Affected areas were between Route 31 and Pyott Road. Because a number of traffic lights were out, numerous traffic jams occurred, Algonquin police said. Power was restored around 5:15 p.m.
