Inverness Women's Club reaches for stars at spring fashion show
Designer outfits from the Barrington showroom, Starr Couture, opened the Inverness Women's Club fashion show on Friday, and appropriately so.
It tied in perfectly with the event's theme: "Reach for the Stars, Illuminate the Style in You."
The opening scene featured a warm, mocha-colored collection from Starr Couture, before moving to its display of spring and summer ensembles, illuminated, so to speak, in vivid colors.
Nearly 500 guests attended the bash, held at the Stonegate Conference and Banquet Center in Hoffman Estates.
"I really wanted to reflect our club's philosophy in the show's theme," says chairwoman Lori Quinn of Palatine, "that as a club we aim to help others to reach for their goals, and achieve their dreams."
After a morning filled with shopping at the club's on-site boutique, guests enjoyed a gourmet luncheon before sitting back to see the professionally choreographed style show produced by Zzazz Productions of Oak Brook.
Show Producer, Tracey Tarantino, mounted a show that moved from the best of daytime wear, to eveningwear, to special event outfits. It featured a host of designers, including the Midwest premiere of Chicago designer, Elda De La Rosa.
Her line of modern ensembles, embellished with a vintage look, captured the interest of guests, who took in the wide variety of fashions in the show, from the formal designer gowns, to those with globally inspired ethnic prints.
Former club president, Nancy Wulfers of Inverness said the group's fashion show dates back more than 40 years, and has built a reputation of being one of the finest in the area.
While the nearly 150 club members could sponsor an evening dinner dance to help their many philanthropies, the fashion show concept continues to draw their target market: women, and those of all ages.
"We have a broad spectrum of membership," Wulfers added, "and this is something we all look forward to."
Members expected to raise nearly $40,000 from the event. Proceeds will be directed to their scholarships, which they award to local college and vocational school-bound students, as well as 20 local human service agencies.
