All programs require advance registration. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
There is an after-hours drop slot at the south entrance of the Viking Park administrative building. Registration and payments by check, Visa or MasterCard only, should be enclosed in a sealed envelope. The drop slot will be emptied at 9 a.m. each business day. There is also a drive-up collection box at the circle drive in Viking Park.
Super Pets: Learn drawing and coloring techniques to create "Super Pets." All materials provided. From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hunt Club Park Community Center.
Drawing Bugs: Participants will illustrate all kinds of insects and spiders from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Hunt Club Park Community Center. Learn various techniques to help make bugs pop off the page. All materials provided.
Intro to Adobe Photoshop: Learn how Adobe's family of image editors can help organize and perfect photos. Learn about the entire family of Photoshop products, including live demos of Adobe Photoshop CS3. Classes are for ages 17 and up, and will be held Saturday at the Hunt Club Park Community Center.
Bedazzling Beads: Each student will create a necklace using various beads such as glass, crystal and silver. Class is for students ages 10 to 16 and will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. April 24 at the Hunt Club Park Community Center on Thursday.
Lions, Tigers and Bears: Each participant will choose a lion, tiger or bear to stuff and name with a special birth certificate, and decorate T-shirts. Kreative Kreations reserves the right to make animal substitutions if necessary. From 1 to 2 p.m. April 26 at Hunt Club Park Community Center.
Spring Cake Decorating: Children will design their own cake, cupcake, chef's hat and cake box, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 26 at the Hunt Club Park Community Center. The park district will provide springtime frosting colors and an array of toppings.
World's Best Mom Plaque: Paint a one-of-a-kind "World's Best Mom" plaque from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 28 at Hunt Club Park Community Center. Pieces will be fired off site.
Aquatic passes on sale: Purchase a Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center pass before May 1 to save money. Pass Applications are available at the Viking Park registration office, the Hunt Club registration office, or online.
Cooking classes: The Gurnee Park District is offering unique cooking classes that offer new recipes and unique variations on classic recipes. "Chinese Noodles" will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon May 3.
Adult Golf Clinic: These classes focus on club selection, chipping, pitching, putting, driving, and how to use course management. Classes meet for four one-hour sessions and end with a Friday two-hour practice round on the course. Classes are two evenings a week beginning on May 5 at Bittersweet Golf Course.
Women's Sand Volleyball: Outdoor sand volleyball league is for recreational players and each team will play an eight-game schedule. Cash awards will be given to the first- and second-place teams. Registrations will be accepted through May 12 or until the league fills.
T-ball/Mesh Ball: Young children can enjoy developing baseball skills in T-ball for ages 4 to 5 and mesh ball for ages 6 to 7. Boys and girls will learn the basics of hitting, throwing and catching. Practices are 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for T-ball and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for mesh ball on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, beginning the week of June 16. The first game will be June 28.
Girls Softball League: This girls softball program meets the needs of players and parents. Everyone who signs up will be practicing on Tuesday nights and playing games on Thursday nights at Betty Russell Park. Practice begins on June 17.
Zumba and Turbokick: The Hunt Club Fitness Center now has Zumba at 7:30 p.m. Mondays and 6:30 p.m. Thursdays and Turbokick at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, offered as drop-in classes. It is not necessary to be a member to participate. To get a copy of the group exercise schedule, stop by Hunt Club Park Community Center or go to the park district's Web site.
Summer Camps: Sunshine Explorers is a full-day summer camp for children who will be 5 years old as of Sept. 1, 2008, and will be entering or have just completed kindergarten. Camps are offered 3 days and 5 days a week.
The Gurnee Park District also offers summer camps for 3- and 4-year-olds in the morning at Viking Park and Hunt Club Park. Children will have opportunities for socialization, crafts, nature, songs, games and water play.

Walking Club: The Gurnee Walking Club is for those ages 16 and older who enjoy walking but want someone to walk with. Complete a registration form, which can be found on the park district's Web site.
Birthday Parties: The Hunt Club Park Community Center will host birthday parties. Parties are 90 minutes long and include: room with table and chairs; two party attendants; a 50-minute activity; 40 minutes for cake and beverages and gift opening in the multipurpose room. Birthday party reservations must be made at least 21 business days in advance of the party date. Applications may be downloaded at the park district's Web site or may be picked up at the Hunt Club Park Community Center.
