Voters should have their say on war
As a voter in Bloomingdale Township I was disappointed that once again my fellow citizens and I will not have the opportunity to consider the question of withdrawal of troops from Iraq on the ballot in November. Had the item been added and passed, it would have made it possible to know what local people are thinking.
For the township to say this issue is not relevant to their jurisdiction is to limit the workings of democracy. Having attended for two consecutive years in this effort, it is clear that this required meeting is not treated as a venue for legitimate citizen action.
