Go ahead and blame the assessor
Tax assessor Walter Kubalanza from Grant Township article on March 3 does not tell the truth on how the tax works.
He forgot to mention that when the tax rate does not go up and the tax assessor raises the assessed value of your house your taxes go up. Every year for the past 30 years my assessed value on my house has gone up even when the real estate market had lower selling prices.
This is from the fault of the assessor. The tax assessor is the one you should blame for your increase in taxes. They should be limited to only two terms then get a replacement in office. The tax assessor also does not limit the value to the neighborhood you live in if it does not bring the value of your property up enough he uses surrounding neighborhoods even if they are incorporated and you are not.
It is also worthless to complain since it is like talking to a blank wall. Bad system; they all need to be replaced.
