Sign up for Elgin softball leagues

Open registration for the 2008 Summer Softball leagues at the Elgin Sports Complex is now under way. Registration will continue until all spots are filled.

The softball season will begin May 1.

Separate divisions are offered for Men's 12-in., Men's 14-in., Women's 11-in., Co-Rec 12-in and Co-Rec 14-in.. The captains' meeting for all softball teams will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Centre of Elgin.

You can register now at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. The Centre is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The cost of the program is $695, which includes the official's fees. Additional fees include a $50 forfeit fee (paid by credit card) and nonresident fees. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted.

Elgin church marks 50th anniversary

Westminster Presbyterian Church of Elgin will conduct an evening of celebration to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

The banquet will be at 6 p.m. April 26 at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee. The speaker for the evening will be Bryan Chapell, president of Covenant Theological Seminary.

Arts, crafts show set at Spring Hill Mall

A variety of handcrafted items from local artists will be featured at the Heartland Creative Art and Crafts Show April 25-27 at Spring Hill Mall during all mall hours. This arts and crafts show features more than 30 exhibitors who will show and sell a wide variety of handcrafted items, such as fabric, wood, candles, jewelry, paintings, other unique works.
