Robber gets 11 years for restaurant stickup
Last summer, two terrified Aurora fast-food employees were handcuffed and robbed at gunpoint.
Joshua J. Bishop was sentenced today to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to the armed robbery.
Bishop, 19, of Aurora, admitted entering Long John Silver's at 4416 E. New York St. just before 10 p.m. Aug. 16 and brandishing a weapon.
Prosecutor Mary K. Cronin said Bishop handcuffed the two employees to a kitchen table, then fled with $400 cash. No shots were fired. Neither employee suffered serious physical injury.
Police arrested Bishop a short time later after tracking him down at a nearby restaurant, where he was hiding in a washroom.
DuPage Circuit Judge John Kinsella presided over the plea agreement. Bishop faced up to 30 years in prison for the crime. He is eligible for parole after serving half the prison term.
