Allstar Rebels of St. Charles win big

The CheerSports cheerleading competition on March 9 proved to be another forum for the Allstar Rebels of St. Charles to showcase their talent.

This multi-state tournament, featuring the finest teams from the Chicago area, was held at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago. In the end, the Allstar Rebels finished the day with two first-place and two second-place finishes.

"Both teams have been a pleasure to coach, and have eight first-place finishes between the two," said Coach Sandy Gillespie about her Hooligans and Bandits teams. "They have also been named grand champions and have won awards for best stunts and for best choreography. I think it's the combination of 'work hard and play hard' that has produced so much success this season."

The Hooligans are preschool through kindergarten, and the Bandits are first-through third-grade teams.

The Bandits finished their season with one national championship win. The Hooligans finished their season undefeated and with two National Championship wins.

The Radicals, Allstar Rebels' short-season team, received a third-place finish at the Athletic Championships National Tournament held April 5 and 6 at the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg, completing their season.

The Allstar Rebels Renegades (12th grade and under) and Outlaws (ninth grade and under) completed their season in Las Vegas April 12 and 13 at the WSF Cheerleading National Championship.

Allstar Rebels is holding two-week training clinics Saturday through May 1, with tryouts for the new season May 3 and 4.
