Get your TV converter coupons

If your television is not digital ready or connected to a cable or satellite system, it will not work after Feb. 17, 2009 when all TV broadcasting must be digital.

The federal government is providing up to two coupons, each worth $40, toward the purchase of a converter box that will enable an older TV to work after Feb. 17, 2009. Each converter box sells for between $50 and $70.

There have been many requests and the federal government reports that over 20 percent of the available coupons have already been used. As the February 2009 deadline draws near, the demand for coupons is expected to increase dramatically. If you have a TV that will require a converter you should make your request for coupons now.
