More delays for Batavia's Wilson Street bridge

The two-week closure for the final step of construction of the new Wilson Street bridge in Batavia has been pushed back a week.
It was supposed to start Monday, but now won't start until April 21, the city announced.
Cool weather is to blame.
Pouring the new latex-modified concrete cap over all lanes of the bridge requires temperatures to remain at 50 degrees or higher for at least 12 hours straight, according to Terry Heffron, bridge project liaison.
"We don't see that happening" next week, Heffron said today.
The bridge has to be closed two days to sandblast the surface in preparation for the pour. If they did that, and temperatures were still too cool for the concrete, the bridge would end up being closed longer than two weeks, Heffron said.
