Use county cash on feral cat problem
This is in regards to the April 3 view, "Take responsibility when taking a pet." What a wonderful world this would be if people would be more responsible. I encounter irresponsible people on a regular basis and many have no shame about being so.
These people will get a kitten because they are cute and playful. When they lose their cuteness, these people just discard them as if they were trash, leaving them to fend for themselves.
We have rescued many of these felines who were near starvation and it is heart-breaking.
We have rescued probably at least 70 cats and kittens and there are still a lot trying to avoid starvation.
Now we read in the newspaper that Kane County doesn't know what to do with $15 million. We find this pathetic as well since we have asked the county to step up and provide some kind of funding for spaying and neutering all of these felines so we can stop the breeding of these animals.
Up to now we have been trying to resolve this major problem on our own and with the help of loyal supporters who donate to help get medical care for these animals.
Unfortunately, the financial burden has become overwhelming. We will be forced to look the other way, just as the Kane County Board has done.
