Lake Zurich 3, Zion-Benton 0

At least Lake Zurich's girls soccer team might be getting better.

The same can't be said about the weather just yet.

"(It) was rainy and 36 degrees," coach Pete Ternes said of the conditions for the Bears' North Suburban Conference Lake Division game against visiting Zion-Benton on Tuesday.

"I was miserable."

At least, for Ternes' sake, the Bears won.

Senior forward Lauren Witte had a goal and an assist to lead Lake Zurich to a 3-0 win.

Senior defender Megan Sue and senior forward Lauren Krzeminski also scored for the Bears, who won for just the second time this season. They led 2-0 at halftime.

Sophomore midfielder Hailey Chmela and senior defender Kate Tarquino also had assists for Lake Zurich (2-4-4).

Bears senior goalie Emily Turner made 2 saves in earning her first shutout.

Antioch 2, Round Lake 0: Senior midfielder Kallie Krumpos and junior midfielder Kelly Pish scored for the Sequoits in the North Suburban Prairie Division match.

Junior midfielder Jenna Krumpos assisted on Pish's goal.

Katie Budd recorded the shutout in goal for Antioch (3-1-1, 2-0-1).
