Residents oppose Long Grove land sale
Residents abutting land that may be sold to the Lake County Forest Preserve spoke up at a Long Grove village board meeting Tuesday to oppose the acquisition. A proposal calls for CF Industries to sell about 95 acres to the forest preserve for the Heron Creek Forest Preserve. The neighbors said they want Salem Lake to remain a private lake and protect themselves from having picnickers and fishermen in their backyards. The neighbors said they also want to prevent any roads or trails to be built on the land. Forest preserve board member Michael Talbett said there are no definite plans for the property yet and that the board will work with neighbors to develop the land.
