Principal accused in sexual escapade with teen girls

The principal at a school on the Lake/McHenry County border is accused of bringing teenage girls to a Wisconsin motel for marijuana, pornographic movies, wine coolers, cognac and sex last weekend.

Daniel Scott Markofski, 47, of 5713 Broadway St., Richmond, was held on $20,000 bond Tuesday at the Milwaukee County Jail. He's principal of Spring Grove School, which is part of Nippersink Elementary District 2.

Markofski was charged with two counts of exposing a child to harmful material and one count of sexual intercourse with a child age 16 or older, according to documents filed by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office.

Some Spring Grove School parents voiced frustration with Nippersink Elementary District officials for not addressing Markofski's arrest with them. Mindy Ross was among the parents critical of the school district.

"I'm thoroughly disgusted," Ross said. "The district has identified a problem and the district needs to address it honestly, openly and as quickly as possible. I hope they will, for everyone's confidence."

Court documents state Markofski was arrested in Glendale, just north of Milwaukee, after an officer on routine patrol found him partially clothed in a motel room with two girls, ages 15 and 16, early Saturday.

Markofski performed a sex act on the 16-year-old while the younger teen was in the room, prosecutors said. Markofski met the older teenager on a telephone chat line, authorities said.

In addition, Markofski is accused of ordering a pornographic movie for the teens. Both Milwaukee County girls suggested "Alvin and the Chipmunks" when the trio discussed watching a movie, authorities said, but Markofski decided on the pornography.

Glendale police officer Joel Dhein said Markofski's arrest resulted from a cop on a routine community patrol detecting a marijuana odor coming from the motel room as he walked through the building.

Dhein said officer Thomas Treder entered the room and found a boxer shorts-clad Markofski with the two girls as the porn movie played on the TV at a high volume. The girls were partially clothed.

Markofski admitted buying the wine coolers, cognac and cigars for the teens, court documents state. Police said the cigars were stuffed with marijuana and smoked by the girls.

Nippersink Elementary District 2 Superintendent Dan Oest didn't return messages seeking comment. District 2 board President Patricia Anderson couldn't be reached, and other elected officials were mum.

"Can't talk to you, dude," said District 2 board member Glenn Samuel. "Sorry."

Parents picking up their children Tuesday afternoon at Spring Grove School expressed surprise after learning about the accusations against Markofski. The school is about 2.5 miles from the Lake County border.

"I actually am really shocked," said Stephanie Zolli of Spring Grove, whose third-grade daughter attends the school. "I talked to (Markofski) on several occasions and he seemed normal."
