Scrapbooking Crop Club: Join experienced Scrapbooker Rebecca Quackenbush as she helps participants get inspired, share ideas and complete pages. She will provide layout ideas to help complete 16 pages in just one evening. This is a contractual program. Register now for Session 238018B, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. April 25. This adult program will be held at the Grayslake Rec Center Multipurpose Room A. Cost is $10 for residents, $13 for nonresidents. Register by April 18.

Jump shout cheerleading: This instructional clinic will expose first- through fourth-grade girls to basic cheerleading. In this six-week clinic, girls will learn to perform floor cheers, sideline cheers, jumps and stunts. The emphasis is on fun. This clinic is a lead-in to the travel basketball cheerleading squads.

The next session will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, April 21 to June 2 at the Gymnastics Factory, 888 E. Belvidere Road, Suite 202. There will be no class May 26. Cost is $63 for residents and $79 for nonresidents.

Basic First Aid: This class is for anyone who would like to learn techniques or refresh their memory on how to safely administer basic first aid. The class discusses how to implement basic first aid techniques that cover a variety of injuries. Participants are eligible for an American Heart Association Certification valid for two years, however, this class is not health care provider certified. Participants must pick up a book at the park district office prior to class. Register now for Session 239020D on April 23 or Session 239020E on May 28. Classes are held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Grayslake Fire Station, 160 Hawley St.; enter between the garage doors. This class is for ages 16 and up. Cost is $32 for residents, $42 for nonresidents.

Youth yoga: The class will integrate movements that duplicate animal stretches with breathing techniques to reduce stress and promote energy. Students ages 8 to 11 must be able to work independently and sit quietly.

Sessions will be offered from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 23 to May 28. Bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Cost is $50 for residents and $63 for nonresidents. Register two weeks prior to class.

Sports Mania: One or two sports will be played each day with rules and fundamentals being taught. Games will be held indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. Sports include: soccer, dodge ball, basketball, football, softball, volleyball, baseball, kickball, floor hockey, bocce and more. Register now for Session 328027A from 4 to 5 p.m. Fridays, April 25 to May 30. Classes are held in the Rec Center Gym. Cost is $42 for residents and $53 for nonresidents. Register at least two weeks prior to class.

Making Time for Dinner: This class will help participants learn how to organize their week, plan their meals and prioritize their days. Class will go over nutrition, cooking tips, organizing tips, shopping tips and recipes. This contractual program is designed for adults ages 16 and older. Register by May 1 for Session 236060B, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 8. This class will be held in the GLPD Rec Center. Cost is $30 for residents and $37.50 for nonresidents.

Guard-A-Kid: Guard-a-Kid, for children ages 10 and under with a parent, provides a child ID and safety package to each participating parent. Guard-a-Kid uses a quality digital fingerprint scanner to capture the child's fingerprint images. Parent will receive two laminated wallet ID cards including the child's digital right thumb print, color photo and vital information; one full size ID sheet with digital fingerprints, color photo and vital information; a CD-ROM with all 10 digital fingerprints, color photo and vital information on a law enforcement/FBI specific file; and child safety pamphlets for parents and children. During class time, a child safety video will be watched and discussed. Register now for the next session, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. May 10 in the GLPD Rec Center Multipurpose Room. Cost is $20 for residents, and $25 for nonresidents. Register by two weeks prior to class

Preschool openings: The Grayslake Park District has limited openings in the current year's Preschool Programs. Both 3- and 4-year-old programs are offered. Preschool classes are offered at both the Grayslake Park District Recreation Center and at Jones Island. Call the office for information on specific openings. Some classes may be full.

Men's open basketball: Play informal pickup games this winter and spring. This drop-in program open to adults ages 18 and older will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Sundays through May 18 at Grayslake Central High School. Basketballs are provided. Cost is $5 per person at the door.

Open gym schedule: Come to the new Grayslake Recreation Center gym and play informal pick up games with friends or spend quality time with family. All equipment will be provided.

• Men's Over 35 Open Gym meets from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursdays.

• Family Open Gym, open to all ages meets from 4 to 6 p.m. Fridays.

• Fifth- through eighth-graders meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays.

• Adult volleyball meets from 9 to 11 p.m. Fridays.

• Family open gym, open to all ages runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Family open gym is not a drop-off program. Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older at all times.

This schedule begins in January. The cost to join family open gym is $3 per person at the door. All others times are $5 per person.
