New park director gets warm welcome

I was very glad to read in the Daily Herald on Friday that Stephen Scholten has been selected as the new executive director of the Arlington Heights Park District, and I want to be one of the first to welcome him to our village.

I met Steve when he and I were part of a very small group that co-founded the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club more than a decade ago and he preceded me as club president.

Bloomingdale's Park District will have large shoes to fill with Steve's move to Arlington Heights.

Arlington Heights is a great place to live, largely because of the wonderful park district. My children and my wife and I have enjoyed the park district's many offerings for many years, and we look forward to Steve Scholten leading the district to even higher levels of excellence.
