Loyola patient tower dedicated
Loyola University Medical Center dedicated its new patient tower Sunday.
The building is part of a $120 million renovation and expansion project to the hospital's Maywood campus. The 170,000-square-foot structure includes 64 private patient rooms, each equipped with wireless Internet capability and flat-screen TVs.
The tower holds Loyola's Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine.
It also features new medical technology, including the area's first magnetic-guided navigation system for treatment of conditions such as heart rhythm disorders, heart failure and coronary artery disease.
Work to revamp the existing hospital building will continue through October 2009.
