Prosecutors say suspect could be one of 28 men

Cook County authorities say they don't know the true identity of a man who is being held in lieu of $350,000 bond on credit card fraud charges.

Prosecutors say the man has some 28 aliases.

They believe he posed as a music executive looking for an assistant and used stolen credit cards to book lavish rooms at two Chicago hotels to interview potential candidates.

The man appeared Friday in Cook County Criminal Court under the name Eric Tyrone White, but then told the judge that his name was really John Smith Jr.

Police say that when the man was arrested Wednesday at the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago they found two passports, two driver's licenses and several credit cards -- all with different names and addresses.
