Federal Signal to sell tool unit

OAK BROOK -- Federal Signal Corp., a maker of fire trucks, agreed to sell its tool unit to Connell LP for a loss, a divestment the company projects will "modestly" hurt 2008 earnings. The sale of Dayton Progress Corp. will give Federal Signal about $60 million after taxes, the company said Friday. Federal Signal didn't indicate the size of the loss.
