Geneva leads Kaneland when rains postpone game
The Geneva-Kaneland baseball outing in Maple Park will resume at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
On Thursday, Geneva had a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The game was called due to rain as Dan Rowe was up to bat. The batter before him, Ryan Payne, reached base after a leadoff walk.
Geneva scored the first run after leadoff batter scored on a Kaneland error. A solo home run from Justin Doty in the second inning allowed the Vikings to take a 2-0 advantage.
Tyler Dickerson scored Kaneland's run in the second. After reaching base on a fielder's choice and stealing second, he scored on a Geneva error.
Batavia 5, Rochelle 1: Tim Drish's second inning single drove in two runners as the Bulldogs topped the Hubs in Batavia.
Softball
St. Charles East 4, Neuqua Valley 0:ŒVictoria Perez no-hit the Wildcats through five innings, when rain forced the UEC contest to get called. She walked one and struck out four for the Saints (3-3, 2-0).
Rosary 12, East Aurora 2: The Royals (1-1) jumped ahead with five runs in the top of the first. Courtney Classen had 2 hits, including a triple, and scored twice. Andrea DeKing doubled and drove in four baserunners.
Girls soccer
St. Charles North 1, St. Ignatius 0: In the Pepsi Showdown, Leah DeMoss scored the only goal.
Kaneland 3, IMSA 1: Emily Heimerdinger tallied twice for the Knights, who improved to 2-1.
