Judge: Husband of missing woman can get car back

The husband of a missing suburban Chicago woman can get his car back, a judge ruled today.

But Craig Stebic, whose wife Lisa has been missing nearly a year, must wait until later this month to hear whether he can reclaim his pickup truck and 24 guns.

Investigators want to keep those items, which they seized as possible evidence, Will County Assistant State's Attorney Michael Fitzgerald said at a court hearing.

Authorities have had enough time to conduct forensic tests, George Lenard, Craig Stebic's attorney, told Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt today.

Schoenstedt is expected to rule on the pickup and guns on April 24.

Stebic, of Plainfield, did not appear at the hearing. He has not been charged with any crime.

Police have said they believe his wife is a victim of foul play. She was 37 when she vanished in April of last year. At the time, Craig and Lisa Stebic were divorcing, but still lived together with their children.

The same judge ordered the return of vehicles and computers to former Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson.
