Last-second shot fails to fall for Magic
Peja Stojakovic hit a 3-pointer and 3 free throws in the final minute to lift the New Orleans Hornets over the Orlando Magic, 98-97, on Tuesday night in Orlando, Fla.
Chris Paul had 19 points and 12 assists for the Hornets.
Hedo Turkoglu had 26 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds for Orlando.
Down 98-95 with 9.4 seconds left, the Magic inbounded to Turkoglu. Instead of shooting a 3, the forward drove the wide open lane for an easy dunk.
Turkoglu then fouled Paul on the inbounds pass, and the all-star missed both free throws.
Orlando had another chance, down 1 point with 6.1 seconds left, but Keyon Dooling's buzzer-beating jumper was short.
Sixers 108, Nets 99: Lou Williams hit 3 consecutive baskets in the final 3:47, and surprising Philadelphia (38-37) posted its 20th win in 27 games with a victory over fading New Jersey (31-44) in East Rutherford, N.J.
The Nets' third straight loss dropped them 3½ games behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot in the conference.

The defending champions remained second in the Western Conference, just percentage points behind the New Orleans Hornets.
