Thanks for helping out on book program

The Gowithbooks Organization Baton Rouge, which is a non-profit organization working to improve student performance in public schools by instituting systemic change, would like to thank the contributors below who generously donated over 6,000 books, tapes and educational materials to Louisiana schools.

The programs are now better equipped to accomplish their mission to help promote reading literacy. The books donated went to fill the shelves in their centers and classrooms.

Thank you to Dawn Farris Ron and Nikki LaFleur, and Erin Coady for loading/unloading and delivering boxes of books for shipment; and Alec Gizze, president of JBS Logistics Inc. and his employees for shipping the books and providing storage room for more books for other programs.

Thanks also to Tim and Tom Flynn, owners of Continental Datalabel Inc. in Elgin, for the free packing boxes; Jim Lucas for skids, tape and dispensers and his time; Wendy Breitmayer of Elgin Community College for putting me in touch with Cindy Seghers at Louisiana State University and Cindy for finding the programs in need of books.

We would also like to thank the following programs and individuals for their books and educational materials donations: Karen Gottschalk and Yorkville Intermediate School; Cheryl LaMaster and St. Charles North High School; Ann Ramsey and her class at the Harrison Street School, Geneva; Kelly McGill and Patrick McGuire and students at Fox Ridge Grade School, St. Charles; Ann Foshager, James Toy, Aidee, Aimee and Eric Orozco, Andrea Fiebig, Mary Geldes, Amy Buehler, Shirley Wagner, Elizabeth and Jim Jessen, Betty Reed, Margaret Gray and Pat Dennehey along with the Friends of the Arlington Heights Library.

Also a very special thank you to the Daily Herald and staff writer Kerry Lester for the articles about our efforts to locate transportation to get the donated books to the programs in Baton Rouge.

I am truly grateful for all the examples of the good and wonderful things people do to help one another.
