'Listen up': Women are fiscally aware

I'm writing in regards to the "Saturday Soapbox" (March 22) comments entitled "Listen up, ladies!"

I'm interested in the Web sites you recommended on female financial retirement planning and will put them on my lengthy "To Do" list.

In the meantime, I'd like to say that your comments needed two more sentences. Perhaps you could have inserted: "We know most of you are very careful with your finances and are fully aware that you are unable to fund your retirements because you took years off to raise your families and care for your elderly parents. You are an important part of our social network and we value what you have done."

That is the big elephant in the room that you should have included in your little essay.

From the imperative title, "Listen up, Ladies!," I could have misunderstood your intent. I could have deduced that you thought women were unaware that life's circumstances may have placed them at a disadvantage in the retirement planning game and were padding their vacation plans with too many pedicures instead of being good savers.

I believe women overall are fiscally careful and deserve our thoughtful consideration. Thank you for providing the Web sites for our review.
