Police officer accused of battery
A Chicago Police officer has been charged with three counts of official misconduct and domestic battery for allegedly attacking a woman while on duty.
Police News Affairs Officer John Henry says Donald Branch is scheduled to appear in bond court today on the charges.
According to police, the 16-year police veteran left his Englewood District post and drove to Chicago's far South Side. There, Branch allegedly pulled his gun on a woman that was either his ex-wife or soon to be ex-wife. Investigators say he also broke car windows.
Administrator Ilana Rosenzweig says the Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the incident.
