Best site for new Lombard library

Lombard's village board is getting close to further discussion and possible workshops on the now vacant and readily available parcel at Main and Parkside. The last opportunity for the Helen M. Plum Library to make the right decision regarding Lombard's much needed new library at the right location is now.

The library's current efforts, as evidenced by library board discussion and actions, are being put behind expansion at the current Maple Street site, which is not in the best interest of Lombard's taxpayers. It seems that the library board is simply ignoring the fact that past referendums failed for a library at the current location. And if you choose to ask the taxpayers via referenda once again to rebuild/expand at the current site you will more than likely fail yet again.

Lombard's residents want and deserve a new state of the art library and it is up to the board to do what is best for all of Lombard. I look forward to seeing our library board engaging in productive discussions with our village board and park district in putting together the right plan for the future of downtown Lombard that includes a much needed new library being built at Main and Parkside.
