Village should look at other needs first
I have been hearing more and more talk about the village of Arlington Heights considering the building of a new police station. I am sure that with this planning is the thought that the building should match the new village hall in splendor along with space for future growth.
Now, in an ideal world where all of the village's infrastructure was in perfect condition, this project might be realistic at this time. This, however, in not the case. To confirm this fact, all one needs to do is drive around our village and observe the state of our street surfacing with it's many, many pot holes. And, as this tour is being conducted, notice the after-effects of recent repairs to our antiquated water mains.
Would it not be more logical at this time to address the village's greatest needs first? Let's take care of our streets, water mains, dead and diseased trees, inadequate lighting and signage before considering the replacement of a more than adequate police station.
