The Dundee-Crown High School Beta Club, which is primarily a school and community service organization, is sponsoring the second annual prom store of formalwear and accessories at bargain prices. No item will cost more than $20.

Attending prom is one of the most memorable events for high school students. Unfortunately, costs have skyrocketed, making participation impossible for some who would like to attend.

Donations of new and gently used formal wear, including: dresses, shoes, jewelry, purses, shawls and men's clothing are needed. This appeal is being made to both individuals and retail businesses in the surrounding community. Donations of makeup and even "make-overs" (hair styling, manicures) would be greatly appreciated. Anyone willing to help make some dreams come true is welcome to call the Dundee-Crown Counseling Department for more information.

You can reach club sponsors Judy Gard or Ann DiCosola at (847) 426-1799 or (847) 426-1498. Items may be brought to the Dundee-Crown Counseling Department through Wednesday.

The store location is in the counseling complex of Dundee-Crown High School, 1 Charger Country in Carpentersville. Proceeds will be used to fund next year's store.

This year, the store has been named Kelly's Kollection in honor of senior Kelly Lewis, who inspired and developed the original store last year. Kelly's Kollection will open for "pre-sales" to Dundee-Crown students on Thursday and Friday during the Charge It Up block, by appointment.

Students must obtain passes prior to these dates from Gard or DiCosola in the counseling office. On Friday, the store will open at 3 p.m. to any area high school student with a high school ID.

On April 12, Dundee-Crown also will host the ACT Test, which gives some students a chance to shop after the testing. Again, the store will be open to any area high school student with an ID.

For details, call staff members Gard at (847) 426-1799 or DiCosola at (847) 426-1498.
