Global Poverty Act a misguided waste

Here we go again with my two favorite senators -- the Honorable Dick Durbin and Barack Obama. A 0.7 percent fix for poverty that will cut in half the number of people worldwide who live in poverty by 2015. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Senate Bill 2433, called the Global Poverty Act, will commit us (the enormously wealthy U.S. taxpayer) to spend 0.7 percent of our gross domestic product on foreign handouts (to enrich corrupt foreign governments).

This is more than $30 billion more than the amount we waste now in giveaways overseas. Are we nuts?

This act will be a huge step toward the U. N.'s millennium goal of global governance and international taxes on Americans.

Let's softly suggest to Mssrs. Durbin and Obama that this is not a very bright move.
