Hoffman Estates man accused of having meth in Indiana

A Hoffman Estates man is facing drug charges in Lake County, Ind., after police said they uncovered a stash of bags containing methamphetamine hidden in his car.

Kevin Lozano, 21, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance Friday. He currently is in Lake County jail awaiting a bond hearing, officials said Saturday.

Sheriff's police stopped Lozano's car along Interstate 65 near Lowell for a traffic violation, according to published reports.

Because he appeared nervous, detectives searched the car and found 25 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in a secret compartment. The compartment was obscured by three children sitting in car seats in the back. The children are those of Lozano's girlfriend, who also was in the car and is being detained by the FBI, the Gary Post-Tribune reported.
