Cook County too large, too corrupt
There has been talk lately of forming a new county.
Not a bad idea in lieu of what the thieves who run Cook are doing.
Cook County, with more than five million people, is the second most populated county in the United States. In fact, there are only 20 of the 50 states with a greater population. Adjoining counties, DuPage and Lake have populations of only 932,000 and 713,000 respectively.
Cook County is too large and diverse. So perhaps it's time it to split it up.
Forming a new county could be very costly. Seceding from Cook and joining adjacent counties should be less so.
The counties in the western panhandle of Cook could join with Lake or DuPage where common interest would be much greater and even distance much shorter.
Currently we have practically no voice in county government. Stroger can do anything he wants.
He has the numbers on his side. Our suburban voices go unheard while his huge Army of Lemmings follow him into financial ruin.
In time, the county will be bankrupt. Sales taxes will drive business out of the county, forcing some business to close or move. Who wants to buy a large ticket item, such as a car, in Cook County and pay 10 percent taxes when you can buy one in DuPage and pay 7.5 percent? Do the math.
Whether a new county or joining another, it's time to start taking them.
