Round Lake Beach man denies molesting teen girl

A Round Lake Beach man charged with repeatedly molesting a 16-year-old girl, and urging her not to testify against him, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court.

Jorge Robledo, 36, is charged with criminal sexual assault and unlawful communication with a witness.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said Robledo, of 1205 Brentwood Drive, was arrested Jan. 25 by Lindenhurst police for driving under the influence of alcohol.

During an inventory search of Robledo's car, Foy said, police found several pictures of a 16-year-old girl.

When they questioned Robledo about the pictures, police said he identified the girl and admitted he had been having sex with her since December 2005.

He was charged with criminal sexual assault and ordered held on $500,000 bond.

Later that month, police said, the girl came to them with a letter she had received from Robledo asking her not to testify against him.

The unlawful communication with a witness charge was then filed.

Foy said Robledo faces up to 15 years in prison for the sex charge, and up to five years for writing the letter.

Circuit Judge George Bridges scheduled a trial of the case for May 12 and ordered Robledo to appear in court April 28.
