Humanities scholar brings history to life
Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt will appear locally this weekend when humanities scholar Clay Jenkinson brings his impersonations to Geneva and Sugar Grove.
Jenkinson appears as Jefferson from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St. He will appear in costume as Jefferson and answer questions. He will then come onstage as himself and answer questions.
The cost is $18. Those in attendance will receive a voucher for 25 percent off the cost of seeing Jenkinson at Waubonsee Community College. Call the history center at (630) 232-4951.
He appears as Jefferson in "Architect of Democracy" at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the auditorium at the college's Sugar Grove campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.
He appears as Teddy Roosevelt in "Forging Ahead" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the college.
WGN radio host John Williams will serve as master of ceremonies for Jenkinson both nights at Waubonsee Community College. The cost is $49 for the Friday performance and $39 for the Saturday performance. Guests can attend both nights for $79. Go to www.waubonsee.edu for information.
Jenkinson is a humanities scholar and cultural commentator based in Bismarck, N.D. He has a radio program called the "Jefferson Hour" and writes a weekly column for the Bismarck Tribune.
